What is churn rate?
Customer churn rate is the percentage of customers who cancel or don't renew their subscription during a given time period. It is one of the most critical metrics for any subscription business.
Formula: Churn Rate (%) = (Customers Lost ÷ Customers at Start of Period) × 100
For example, if you start the month with 500 customers and lose 25, your monthly churn rate is 5%.
A healthy monthly churn rate for B2B SaaS is typically 1–2%. Rates above 5% per month indicate a significant retention problem that compounds quickly over time.
